Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread, crust trimmed
  • 1 lb. sausage
  • 1 1/2 c. (6 oz.) shredded cheese
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 c. half and half or milk
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Remove crust from bread and spread with melted margarine. Place in 13 x 9 x 2-inch casserole and set aside.
  • Cook sausage and drain.
  • Crumble sausage and spoon over bread.
  • Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • Combine cream or milk, eggs and salt.
  • Mix well and pour over cheese.
  • Cover dish and refrigerate overnight. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 45 minutes.
  • Serve warm.
  • Serves 8.
