Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. kielbasi
- 2 lb. sauerkraut (less if desired)
- 1/2 c. chopped bacon
- 1 small onion
- 1 c. red wine or white wine
- 1 c. water
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- dash of salt and pepper
Method
- Cut up bacon and fry.
- Add chopped onion to bacon and brown. Rinse and drain sauerkraut.
- Add to browned bacon and onion mix. Keep turning sauerkraut until brown.
- Add wine, water, sugar, salt and pepper.
- Slowly simmer over low heat for 3/4 hours.
- Cut up kielbasi and add to sauerkraut mix.
- Simmer 20 minutes.
- Serve over mashed potatoes.
