Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 to 4 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 3 Tbsp. warm water
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 6 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1/3 c. sugar (I don't use that much)
  • 1 egg

Method

  • In bowl, sift flour.
  • In separate bowl, dissolve yeast in 3 tablespoons water.
  • Add lukewarm water, shortening, sugar and egg. Slowly add flour; blend well.
  • Refrigerate overnight.
  • Shape the dough into rolls.
  • Let rise in warm place.
  • Bake in 350° oven until lightly brown on top.
  • Makes 3 dozen.
