Ingredients
- 1/2 c. warm (not hot) water
- 3 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 8 to 9 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. soft shortening (2 sticks oleo)
- 2 eggs
Method
- Soak yeast in warm water for 5 minutes.
- Pour milk over sugar and salt in a large bowl.
- Stir until dissolved.
- Beat in 1 cup flour, shortening, eggs and yeast mixture.
- Add remaining flour to make a soft dough.
- When dough leaves sides of bowl, turn out onto a lightly floured board (counter).
- Knead until dough becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place in a lightly greased bowl.
- Grease top of dough.
- Cover with waxed paper.
