Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. melted butter
  • 1 1/2 c. raw oatmeal
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 5 c. fresh rhubarb or apples, cut up
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 4 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla

Method

  • Combine first 5 ingredients.
  • Press half of this mixture into a greased 9 1/2 x 13-inch baking pan.
  • Cover with rhubarb or apples.
  • Cook sugar, water, cornstarch and vanilla until clear and thick.
  • Pour over fruit and top with the remaining crumbly mix. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
