Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 3 Tbsp. warm water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 eggs
- 5 c. flour
Method
- This makes 3 coffee cakes or about 60 rolls.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Dissolve sugar, shortening and salt in boiling water in small saucepan.
- When cool, pour into large bowl.
- Add yeast, eggs and 2 cups flour.
- Beat with mixer until frothy.
- Add 3 more cups of flour; mix well.
- Cover with Saran Wrap and refrigerate overnight or until needed.
- Will keep 7 to 10 days.
