Ingredients
- 1 lb. pinto or pink beans
- 2 small onions
- 5 c. water
- 1/2 c. light spread
Method
- Place beans and onions in a pan with water.
- Bring to a boil. Remove from heat; let stand 2 hours, then return to heat and bring to a boil.
- Simmer for either 3 hours or until beans are tender. At this point, melt light spread.
- Using a potato masher or fork, start mashing beans, adding light spread slowly and combining until desired consistency.
