Ingredients
- 1/3 c. margarine
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 8 c. (about 1 3/4 lb.) shredded red cabbage
- 3 c. unpeeled diced apples
- 1 to 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. caraway seed
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. cider vinegar
- 1/2 c. water
Method
- Melt margarine in large skillet.
- Add onion; saute until tender.
- Stir in cabbage, apple, salt, caraway seed, pepper, brown sugar, vinegar and water.
- Cover and simmer 50 to 60 minutes, or until cabbage is tender and flavors are well blended.
- Makes 6 servings.
