- 1 c. water
- 2 c. raisins
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
Method
- Combine raisins and water in saucepan and bring to a boil for 3 minutes.
- Let cool (do not drain), cream sugar and shortening together.
- Add eggs and vanilla; combine dry ingredients.
- Add to creamed mixture and blend thoroughly.
- Stir in nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonful 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheets.
- Bake at 350° for 12 to 14 minutes.
