Ingredients

  • 3 c. warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1/4 c. honey
  • 9 to 10 c. flour
  • 5 tsp. salt (yes, 5)
  • 5 Tbsp. oil

Method

  • Combine
  • water,
  • yeast
  • and
  • honey.
  • Stir
  • until
  • yeast dissolves.
  • Add
  • cups flour and salt.
  • Beat hard with a big spoon until
  • batter
  • is smooth.
  • Add remaining flour and blend well.
  • Pour oil
  • over dough while in the bowl and knead just 2 or 3
  • minutes.
  • The
  • oil will be absorbed by the dough.
  • Cover and let
  • rise until doubled.
  • Punch down and turn onto lightly floured board and knead slightly.
  • Shape into 2 loaves and put into greased
  • bread
  • pans.
  • Cover
  • and let rise until doubled. Bake at 400° for 30 minutes or until done.
