Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread (any kind)
  • 1 lb pork sausage or 1 lb turkey sausage
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash pepper

Method

  • Butter or grease a 13 x 9 x 2 baking dish.
  • Tear up the bread slices and place pieces in the prepared baking dish.
  • Brown and drain the sausage.
  • Spoon sausage over bread, and sprinkle with the cheese.
  • Beat together the eggs and milk.
  • Mix in the dry mustard, salt and pepper.
  • Pour over the mixture in baking dish.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • In the morning, remove casserole from the refrigerator and let sit on the counter while preheating the oven to 350.
  • Remove cover and put in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
  • Cheese will rise to the top during baking.
  • Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting.
