Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Karo syrup
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 c. pecans
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 stick margarine or butter

Method

  • In large boiler, stir sugar, syrup, baking soda and milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat until mixture turns a rich brown and reaches soft ball stage (stir constantly).
  • Remove from heat and add nuts, vanilla and margarine.
  • Continue to stir until mixture begins to cool and thicken.
  • Drop spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
