Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Method

  • Cream butter; add sugar gradually.
  • Beat until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine dry ingredients.
  • Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  • Begin and end with flour mixture.
  • Stir in vanilla. Bake in a 13 x 9-inch pan at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until pick comes out clean.
