Ingredients
- 2 c. water
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 2 Tbsp. rum or 1/2 tsp. each: rum and vanilla extract
- 4 apples, peeled, cored and quartered
Method
- Bring water, sugar and nutmeg to boil in a large deep skillet. Boil 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly reduced in volume.
- Add rum and apples.
- Cover and simmer over low heat, 10 to 15 minutes, gently stirring 2 or 3 times until apples are tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in raisins.
- Serves 4.
