Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. Planters pecan halves or walnuts
  • 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. Davis baking powder
  • 1/4 c. Brer Rabbit light molasses
  • 1 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/4 c. Blue Bonnet margarine
  • confectioners sugar glaze, tinted with food coloring, colored sprinkles or candies

Method

  • Finely chop 1 1/2 cups nuts.
  • Combine flour, chopped nuts and baking powder; set aside.
  • In saucepan, heat sugar, molasses, water, allspice and cinnamon to a boil.
  • Remove from heat; stir in margarine until melted.
  • Blend in flour mixture.
  • Chill 1 hour.
