Ingredients

  • 1 c. warm milk
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. liquid shortening (Crisco)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 c. flour

Method

  • Mix first 4 ingredients.
  • Slowly add 2 cups flour; work a little.
  • Let rise at least 3 to 4 hours.
  • Knead and add a little flour, working in to get rid of stickiness, so it's easy to work with.
  • Roll out to about a 13-inch pie.
  • Spread 3 tablespoons olive oil on crust, leaving 1/2-inch from edge bare.
  • Add sauce and cheese of your choice, leaving 1/2-inch from edge bare.
  • Bake at 425° until cheese melts and crust is puffed up and brown.
