Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 5-6 Tbsp. ice water
Method
- Put 2 cups flour in bowl. Add salt and shortening. Measure shortening by displacing water in a measuring cup.
- Cut the shortening into the flour using two knives. Don't overwork the dough or it won't be flakey.
- Add ice water, 1 Tbsp. at a time until dough is moist, but not wet.
- Sprinkle rolling surface with flour, and also the rolling pin,
- Divide dough in half. Roll bottom dough; then add pie filling, then put on top dough.
- Pinch or tuck edges. Make slits for steam to escape. Use little leaf cut-outs to decorate the top.
- Brush dough with milk for golden browning.
