Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 c. flour (about)
  • 1 1/4 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg

Method

  • In mixer bowl combine yeast and 1 1/2 c. of the flour.
  • Heat together lowfat milk, shortening, sugar and salt just till hot, stirring occasionally to heat shortening.
  • Add in to dry mix in mixing bowl; add in egg.
  • Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 30 seconds, scraping sides constantly.
  • Beat 3 min at high speed.
  • By hand stir in rest of flour (2 c.).
  • Place in greased bowl.
  • Lightly oil top of dough.
  • Cover and refrigeratein refrigerator at least 2 hrs.
  • About 2-2 1/2 hrs before serving, shape into clover leaf rolls and place in greased muffin pans.
  • Brush with melted butter.
  • Let rise about 1-1 1/2 hrs till double in bulk.
  • Bake in 400 degree oven for about 15 min.
