Ingredients

  • 2 lb. boneless chuck steak
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 2 medium green peppers
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tomatoes
  • soy sauce to taste
  • white pepper to taste

Method

  • Cut meat into thin strips.
  • In large skillet, heat shortening and brown meat, turning often.
  • Stir in onion soup mix and 2 cups water.
  • Cover.
  • Simmer 30 minutes.
  • Add peppers.
  • Simmer, covered, 10 minutes or until meat is tender.
  • Blend cornstarch with 1/2 cup water.
  • Stir into skillet.
  • Cook, while stirring, until thickened. Stir in soy sauce and white pepper.
  • Serve with rice.
  • Makes 6 to 8 servings.
