Ingredients
- 6 ripe pears
- 1 c. Bordeaux wine
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 strip lemon rind
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Method
- Peel pears. Combine wine, sugar, lemon and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil.
- Add pears.
- Cover and poach until just tender. Remove pears.
- Mix cornstarch with a small amount of water, then add to wine mixture.
- Cook, stirring until clear and thickened. Arrange pears on serving dish and spoon over wine sauce.
