Ingredients

  • 3/4-inch thick slices French bread
  • ??? eggs
  • ??? c. milk
  • ??? Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine, divided in half
  • powdered sugar

Method

  • Place bread in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
  • Combine eggs, milk, sugar, salt, orange juice and vanilla; beat well.
  • Pour mixture over bread slices and turn slices to coat evenly.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • In the morning, melt 2 tablespoons margarine in a large skillet; remove 4 slices bread from dish and saute 4 minutes or until browned on each side.
  • Repeat procedure with remaining margarine and bread.
  • Sprinkle with xxxx sugar and serve immediately.
  • Makes 4 servings.
