Ingredients
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced thin
- 3 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 9 slices day-old French or Italian bread
Method
- In saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup until thick.
- Pour into ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan, arrange apples on top of syrup.
- In a bowl, beat eggs, milk and vanilla.
- Dip bread in egg mixture and arrange over top of apples.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking and uncover.
- Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 35 - 40 minutes or until top is browned.
