Ingredients

  • 1 c. margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. chopped nuts
  • 2 c. coconut
  • 3 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 box dates, cut
  • 1 lb. orange slice candy
  • 1 tsp. baking soda

Method

  • Preheat oven to 250, spray pan with non-stick spray.
  • Cut candy into small pieces.
  • Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk, cream margarine and sugar.
  • Add 1 egg at a time.
  • Roll nuts, candy and dates in flour.
  • Add remaining flour to buttermilk.
  • Add nuts, candy, dates, and coconut to batter.
  • Bake in tube pan 2 1/2 hours.
