Ingredients
- 1/2 c. orange juice
- rind of 1 orange, grated
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 pt. heavy whipping cream
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 angel food cake
Method
- Mix in saucepan the sugar and flour.
- Add orange and lemon juices, orange rind, beaten egg and butter.
- Cook until thick, stirring constantly; chill thoroughly.
- Add 1/2 pint heavy cream, whipped.
- Slit angel food cake into 3 layers.
- Top each slice with whipped cream mixture and place together.
- Cover sides with whipped cream mixture and garnish with mandarin orange slice, if desired.
- Place in refrigerator overnight.
