Ingredients
- 2 large sweet onions
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 3/4 c. boiling water
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- salt and pepper
- 1 Tbsp. margarine
- 1/2 c. bread crumbs
- 2 Tbsp. melted margarine
- 1/4 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
Method
- Peel and slice onions, arrange in baking dish, overlapping slices.
- Dissolve bouillon cube in boiling water.
- Add thyme and pour over onions.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Dot with margarine.
- Cover and bake at 400° for 20 minutes.
- Toss bread crumbs with the melted margarine.
- Add cheese. Sprinkle crumbs and cheese over onions.
- Bake, uncovered, 10 minutes longer.
