Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1 1/4 c. warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. oleo
  • 1 egg

Method

  • Mix water and yeast together and set for 15 minutes.
  • Add sugar, salt, oleo and egg; mix well.
  • Add enough flour to make a smooth batter.
  • Add 1/2 of flour at a time, until all of the flour is used, making a stiff dough (more flour can be added if needed). Pour dough out on a well floured board and knead until small blisters under surface of dough.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl to rise.
  • Cover with towel, let rise to double in size, 30 to 40 minutes.
