Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water (110~)
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk, heated to lukewarm
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. oil/melted shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Method

  • Combine buttermilk, sugar, oil and salt.
  • Sift flour and soda into large bowl.
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water and milk.
  • Add to flour mixture; mix well.
  • Let stand 10 minutes.
  • Roll out and cut into desired shape.
  • Melt additional butter in bottom of 13 x 9-inch pan.
  • Place rolls in pan, turning to butter top of each. Let stand 30 minutes to rise.
  • Bake at 425° for 10 to 12 minutes.
