Ingredients

  • 1 c. seedless raisins
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 3/4 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Method

  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Boil raisins in the water for 5 minutes.
  • Add shortening and stir until melted. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  • Blend in flour and spices.
  • Stir in pecans.
  • Spread in greased pan.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • While warm, spread with frosting.
