Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine

Method

  • Cream sugar, salt and butter or margarine thoroughly.
  • Beat egg and extract into creamed mixture until light and fluffy.
  • Sift together flour and baking powder.
  • Gradually stir into creamed ingredients.
  • Roll dough 1/8-inch thick on floured board.
  • Cut into fancy shapes.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Sprinkle with sugar.
  • Bake at 350° for 9 to 10 minutes or until light brown around edges.
  • Remove to cool.
  • Store in airtight container. Yield: about 5 dozen cookies.
