Ingredients

  • 6 large lemons
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. concentrated lemon juice
  • 3 c. granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 qt. water
  • approximately 8 to 10 ice cubes

Method

  • Add ice cubes to water and set aside to chill.
  • Roll, wash, squeeze and dice into bits, the rind and pulp of lemons into mixing bowl.
  • Add juice, sugar and lemon bits; mix well.
  • Add about 4 cups of chilled water.
  • Add to the remainder of the chilled water.
  • Pour some of the lemonade mixture back into the mixing bowls to make sure the lemon mixture was all added to the chilled water.
  • Repeat if necessary.
  • Refrigerate until time to serve with ice cubes. Yields one gallon.
