Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. cornmeal
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 c. Pet milk
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 3 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper
  • 2 c. sliced fresh okra
  • vegetable oil
  • salt

Method

  • Combine first 9 ingredients; sir in okra.
  • Pour oil to the depth of 2 inches in a Dutch oven.
  • Heat to 350° and drop mixture by tablespoonfuls into oil, until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towel.
  • Sprinkle with salt.
  • Serve immediately.
