Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. raw oatmeal
  • 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 c. chopped dates or raisins

Method

  • Cream butter and shortening.
  • Add sugars gradually.
  • Blend well.
  • Add vanilla, then eggs; beat well.
  • Add dry ingredients. Fold in oatmeal, nuts and raisins.
  • Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 12 minutes.
  • Makes 8 dozen.
