Ingredients
- 12 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Method
- 1.
- In a large bowl, cream together shortening and sugar.
- Beat in the molasses, egg and vanilla.
- Combine the flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl.
- Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- 2.
- Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls.
- Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool on sheet for 5 minutes then remove to wire rack to cool completely.
