Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. oats
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon

Method

  • Add oats to water.
  • Cover and let stand.
  • Mix shortening, white and brown sugars and eggs.
  • In a separate bowl, mix soda, salt, flour and cinnamon. Add this to sugar and shortening mixture. Add in oats.
  • Oats should be somewhat cool.
  • Pour into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch greased pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
