Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar granulated
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar lightly-packed
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 each eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups flour, all-purpose
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups oats, quick cooking
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 2 each chocolate bars toffee-kind, crisp, chopped

Method

  • Preheat oven to 375F (190C).
  • Grease baking sheet lightly with shortening.
  • Cream shortening, sugars, syrup, egg and light and creamy.
  • Combine flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Gradually add to creamed mixture on low speed, mixing until blended.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place on greased baking sheet.
  • Bake at 375F (190C) F for 7 to 8 minutes for chewy cookies.
