Ingredients
- 4 c. boiling water
- 2 c. oatmeal
- 1 c. molasses (may use some honey)
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. yeast
- 12 to 14 c. flour (may use some whole wheat)
Method
- Pour 4 cups boiling water over oatmeal, molasses, salt and shortening.
- When lukewarm, dissolve yeast in mixture.
- Mix in enough flour to make a bread dough.
- Knead and put into a bowl to rise.
- Shape into 4 loaves. Let rise again and bake 35 to 45 minutes at 350°.
