Ingredients

  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 4 oz. sq. baking chocolate
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Mix water, margarine and chocolate in a large heavy saucepan. Heat until chocolate is melted.
  • Take from heat and add sugar, eggs and sour cream, mixing with a spoon.
  • Sift in flour, soda and salt.
  • Mix well with a spoon.
  • Do not overbeat.
  • Stir in vanilla. Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan in 350° oven for about 35 minutes.
  • Test to see if top springs back when touched with your finger.
  • Do not overbake.
