Ingredients

  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. regular shortening
  • buttermilk (enough to make a dough mixture)

Method

  • Using a fork, cut the shortening into the flour until crumbly. Use enough buttermilk (about 1/2 cup to start) to form dough. Keep adding buttermilk until the dough is a little wet.
  • Take floured hands; make medium size ball with dough.
  • Place on cookie sheet; brush with a little buttermilk.
  • Bake at 350° for about 15 minutes, or until lightly browned on top.
