Ingredients
- 1 large can lima beans
- 1 large can butter beans
- 1 large can kidney beans
- 1 can pork and beans (larger than the kidney beans)
- 1/2 lb. bacon
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. vinegar
- 1 chopped onion (medium)
Method
- Drain lima, butter and kidney beans.
- Cut up and fry bacon. Drain.
- Save a small amount of bacon drippings (about 3 tablespoons).
- In a large casserole, mix beans and bacon.
- Brown onion in bacon drippings.
- Add sugar and vinegar.
- Cook to slightly thicken.
- Add to beans.
- Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
- Freezes well. Can make sauce ahead and store in refrigerator.
