Ingredients

  • 2 round steaks, cut into thin strips
  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 1 tsp. cooking oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can Campbell's consomme soup
  • 1 Tbsp. caraway seed
  • 4 oz. can mushrooms, drained
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1/2 c. dry red wine

Method

  • Melt margarine in skillet.
  • Brown meat on both sides in the margarine.
  • Sprinkle onion over meat in skillet.
  • Pour undiluted soup over meat and onion and add caraway seed.
  • Cover with skillet lid and simmer for 2 hours over very low heat.
  • Just before serving, add mushrooms, sour cream and wine and stir to mix. Serve over noodles or rice.
  • Serves about 6 to 8.
