Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 3 Tbsp. warm water
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Cream margarine, shortening and sugar.
  • Add eggs, one at a time.
  • Add the cocoa, mixed with the 3 tablespoons warm water. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with the buttermilk and vanilla.
  • Bake in three 9-inch prepared round cake pans in 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
