Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. shortening (Crisco)
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 eggs, separated
Method
- Separate eggs and beat egg whites in large bowl until stiff. Mix milk and vanilla together in another bowl and set both aside. Sift dry ingredients together, then add softened shortening.
- Add egg yolks and milk.
- Pour batter into stiff egg whites and fold in with slotted spoon; pour into tube pan.
- Bake at 350° for about 1 hour.
- Top with favorite icing or just dust with powdered sugar.
