Ingredients

  • 1 can whole tomatoes
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 1 lb. hamburg
  • 1/2 to 3/4 c. green pepper
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1 c. tomato paste
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 1/2 boxes mostacelli
  • Velveeta cheese and Parmesan cheese

Method

  • Make sauce in large skillet.
  • Brown hamburger.
  • Saute onion and pepper until tender.
  • Drain grease.
  • Add salt, pepper, basil, oregano, bay leaf, tomato paste, can of tomatoes and 1 cup water. Let simmer 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Cook mostacelli according to directions.
  • Layer in 13 x 9-inch pan:
  • mostacelli, cheese (Velveeta) and sauce.
  • Repeat.
  • Sprinkle with Parmesan.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
