Ingredients

  • 2 dry yeast cakes
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 6 c. flour
  • 1/4 lb. melted butter

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water; set aside. Mix shortening, sugar, salt and boiling water. Mix well. Add beaten egg. Add flour and yeast mixture alternately until complete. Let rise in a warm place until doubled. Knead dough well. Pull off pieces about the size of a walnut; dip into butter and place in loaf pan or Bundt pan. Continue filling until pan is 2/3 full. Cover and let rise.
