- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1 green pepper, cut in strips
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 qt. or 1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes
- 2 c. water
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. wide noodles
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. Mozzarella, sliced
Method
- In Dutch oven, saute onion and pepper in butter for 3 minutes. Add beef; brown, breaking up meat as it cooks.
- Add seasoned salt, pepper and sugar.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce and water. Heat mixture to boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. In a 9 x 13-inch pan, place wide noodles, then tomato-meat mixture.
- Top with Mozzarella cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil; bake in preheated 350° oven for 45 minutes.
- Cut and serve as you would lasagne.
- Makes 8 to 10 servings.
