Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 12 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (12 ounce) package chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped

Method

  • Sift flour once, measure, add soda and salt.
  • Sift again.
  • Cream shortening, adding sugars gradually.
  • Cream until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs and mix thoroughly.
  • Add flour in two parts and mix well.
  • Add chocolate chips, vanilla, and nuts.
  • Mix well.
  • Drop from a teaspoon on an ungreased baking sheet 2 inches apart.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
