Ingredients
- 10 c. navy beans
- 5 medium onions
- 4 c. sugar
- 1 lb. bacon
- 5 qt. tomato juice
Method
- Soak beans overnight.
- Cook in water until they crack.
- Drain water and add onions, sugar, bacon and tomato juice in a large roaster.
- Bake at 350° for about 4 hours.
- If they become dry and beans are not tender, add water and bake a little longer.
- Can be frozen.
- Makes a large roaster full.
