Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 15 oz cans of diced tomatoes (liquid included)
  • 2 15 oz cans red kidney beans (liquid drained)
  • 2 15 oz cans pinto beans (liquid drained)
  • 2 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 medium white onion diced
  • 4 tbsp chopped celery
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup water if needed

Method

  • Cook onions in olive oil until soft over medium heat.
  • Add celery and cook until soft.
  • Add hamburger to pan breaking into small pieces.
  • Continue cooking until beef is brown.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Stir to combine thoroughly.
  • Bring to simmer over medium heat.
  • Reduce burner to low.
  • Continue simmering for 50 - 60 min.
  • Stir occasionally.
