Ingredients
- 2/3 c. vegetable oil
- 2/3 c. flour
- 2/3 c. chopped onions
- 2/3 c. chopped green peppers
- 2/3 c. chopped celery
- 2/3 c. chopped green onions
- 2/3 tsp. minced garlic
- 2/3 c. water
Method
- Put several cups of flour in a large, heavy pot and brown at 400° for about an hour, stirring every 15 minutes or so.
- You may do this on top of the stove, stirring constantly for 15 minutes. Store in a jar in the cabinet.
- Mix equal parts of flour and water or oil, stirring until smooth.
- Add to gumbos, soups, stews or gravies.
- Get the taste without the calories!
