Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. suet
  • 2 lb. beef, cut in cubes
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 8 c. water
  • 6 onions, diced
  • 4 potatoes, diced
  • 4 carrots, diced
  • salt to taste
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Method

  • Cook the suet in a kettle over medium heat until fat is rendered.
  • Roll the beef in flour and add to suet.
  • Cook, stirring, until brown.
  • Add the water and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer until the beef is tender.
  • Add remaining ingredients and cook until the vegetables are tender.
